Martin Forsius works as a Research Professor at the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE) in Helsinki. He is the current Chair of the AMAP (Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme) Working Group of the Arctic Council, and Vice-Chair of the European LTER (Long-Term Ecosystem Research) network. Prof. Forsius has conducted research on the impacts of air pollutants and climate change on biogeochemical processes in catchment and lake ecosystems. He has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters. He received a PhD (1992) in Limnology from the University of Helsinki. Prof. Forsius has directed several Finnish, Nordic and EU funded research projects, and he has also been involved in several assessment activities of AMAP and the Working Group on Effects of the UN/ECE Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution.
